Strata Move Rules in Victoria Condos
Many Victoria condo buildings have rules for moves. Knowing them ahead of time avoids delays and fines.
Request a moverElevator bookings
Most buildings require you to book the elevator, often with protective pads installed.
Move hours
Moves may be limited to certain hours or days, sometimes not on Sundays or holidays.
Deposits and fees
Some stratas charge a move fee or refundable damage deposit.
Insurance certificates
Some buildings ask for proof of the mover's insurance before moving day.
Loading areas
Ask where the truck can park and whether there's a loading bay.
Both ends
Check rules at both buildings and book times that work for each.
Common property
Protect hallways, doors and floors, and report any damage.

Keys and fobs
Arrange elevator keys, fobs and parkade access ahead of time, and make sure the movers know who to contact if a door or elevator won't open.
Who to ask
Ask the property manager or strata council for the move-in and move-out rules in writing. If you're renting, your landlord or building manager can usually provide them.
Timing both ends
If both buildings have strict move hours, a move between two strata buildings can be tricky to fit into one day. Some people use short-term storage or a two-day move to make it work.
Bylaws and fines
Stratas can enforce their bylaws with fines. Booking properly, protecting common areas and moving within the allowed hours keeps things friendly with your new neighbours.
Garbage and recycling
Ask where moving boxes and packing waste can go. Many buildings don't want large amounts of cardboard left in shared bins.
